The CD contains a collection of DICOM images prepared under the direction of NEMA's Committee for the Advancement of DICOM, Medical Imaging Informatics Section.
A wide variety of images are contained on the CD including Computed Radiography, ComputedTomography, Magnetic Resonance, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Secondary Capture, Ultrasound, X-Ray Angiography and X-Ray Radiofluoroscopy.
The CD was built according to DICOM Supplement 19 General Purpose CD-R Image Interchange Profile and conveys an ISO 9660 file system which is readable on PC, Mac and Unix platforms. The DICOM images are stored in "Explicit VR Little Endian Uncompressed Transfer Syntax" encoding using the DICOM file format specified by DICOM Part 10: Media Storage and File Format for Data Interchange.

Commissioned by NEMA, the production of the CD has been coordinated by Kuratorium OFFIS e.V., a non-profit R&D institute located in Oldenburg, Germany. OFFIS tested the images, built the required medical directory (DICOMDIR) and created a CD-R according to the specifications of DICOM Supplement 19: General Purpose CD-R Image Interchange Profile. The CD-R was used as the master for CD-ROM pressing. |
